This hands-on tattoo design workshop introduces young people to the craft, discipline and professional standards behind modern tattooing. Guided by working tattoo artists, participants explore design styles, sketch development, hygiene principles and industry expectations, before creating tattoo designs on fake skin using professional equipment.
InkSpired treats tattooing as what it is: a serious creative profession rooted in illustration, design, discipline and business.
Led by professional tattoo artists, participants learn how tattoo designs are developed properly — understanding linework, composition, stencil thinking, visual balance and industry expectations. They work slowly, carefully and with intent, using professional-grade equipment on fake skin only.
Alongside the art, they get honest insight into:
- How the tattoo industry really works
- What apprenticeships involve
- What portfolios need to show
- Whether this path is right for them

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do participants actually get to tattoo?
A: Yes – but only on fake skin. Under the guidance of a professional artist, participants will have the chance to experience live tattooing using proper equipment and hygiene practices. This is a safe, controlled activity focused on technique, not permanent ink.
Q: Can participants tattoo each other?
A: Absolutely not. For legal, safety, and ethical reasons, no human skin tattooing is allowed under any circumstances. All practice is done on fake skin only, and strict supervision is in place at all times.
Q: Why is the group size limited?
A: To ensure every participant gets hands-on time, direct feedback, and a safe environment to use equipment properly, we limit group size to a maximum of 10 young people per session. This keeps the quality high and the experience personal.
Q: Is this just an art workshop?
A: No. It’s creative industry exposure combining art, discipline, business insight, personal branding and career guidance.
Q: Does this encourage young people to get tattoos?
A: No. It educates them about the profession, ethics and responsibility behind the craft.
Q: How does this support careers education?
A: It aligns with Gatsby Benchmarks, offering direct employer engagement and industry insight.
Q: Is it suitable for SEND or alternative provision learners?
A: Yes. Small groups and hands-on learning make it particularly effective.
Q: Can we book a one-on-one session?
A: Yes – one-to-one tattoo design sessions (with or without live practice) are available on request. These are ideal for learners already exploring art pathways or those needing a more focused setting.
Q: Can this be delivered in school settings?
A: Yes, with appropriate space and risk assessment in place. We provide all necessary health and safety documentation and work closely with staff to ensure smooth delivery.
Q: How do bookings and payment work?
A: We support invoices, POs and advance scheduling.
Every young person deserves to shine and we’re here to light the way.
